SEEKING FALL CONFERENCE PLANNING AND FACILITATION VOLUNTEERS Deb Goodenberger, 2016 McCook Fall Conference Chair, is seeking NATA members to help plan and facilitate the conference. A meeting will be scheduled in January. There are many roles one may choose from and volunteering in your teacher's association is another way of achieving professional growth. Please contact Deb right away if you would be interested in volunteering. Here's a few of the responsibilities in planning and facilitating a conference.
Topic: Researching School Programs in the Art Museum Dates: Wednesday, December 9 to Wednesday, December 16, 2015 Event Hosts: Olga Hubard, Research Commission and Teachers College, Columbia University; Sara Egan, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum; Emily Holtrop, NAEA Museum Education Division and Cincinnati Art Museum; Emily Pringle, Tate; Ai Wee Seow, Tamagawa University, Japan. What can we learn by studying school programs in the art museum? How might research illuminate the teaching, learning, and experiences that occur in the galleries? This chat will explore questions that guide research about school programs in art museums, including methods used, some possibilities these reveal, and the limits they pose. The discussion will point to significant findings, as well as to challenges faced during the research process.
