Your Weekly Moment of Art Zen from NebraskaArtists.org
Angela Drakeford is a young artist who grew up in Omaha. Her life changed when she the new Crystal Bridges Art Museum asked artists from all over the U.S. to submit new work for an ambitious survey of American art. The museum got 10,000 submissions from established artists as well as newcomers. The curators chose to include Angela’s work in the show that included only 103 artists. In this video from NebraskaArtists.org, Angela talks about how that process happened, and how her life has changed. She is now pursuing a masters degree in Philadelphia. Here’s the link: http://www.nebraskaartists.org/movies/video12_2_3_b_Drakeford.html

NebraskaArtists.org is a free website dedicated to providing Nebraska art teachers with powerful video tools tied directly to the Nebraska Visual Arts Educational Standards. The project is administered by the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA), in partnership with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association (NATA), Joslyn Art Museum, Sheldon Museum of Art, and the Nebraska Department of Education. Videos are produced by the Ganzel Group Communications and Flicka Films both of Lincoln.

Arts Advocacy Toolkit - Show your member of Congress the Importance of the Arts in Your Community
Each summer, Members of Congress travel back to their districts and states they represent for an extended work period; this year the district work period is July 16th - September 5th.
This work period is a great time to invite your Representative and Senators to arts gatherings, exhibition openings, performances, educational workshops and other events to show them first-hand the power of the arts in your community.
We have a link, through our partnership with Americans for the Arts and VoterVoice, that allows you to easily send a customizable invitation directly to your Members of Congress. You can follow the template or customize your own message. Invitations are sent directly to the congressional offices and the scheduler in the office. You can access your Congress Invitation Toolkit here.
