Congressional Art Competition Entries Due March 2 NATA is proud to facilitate the Congressional Art Competition for Nebraska’s 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts. This is a competition for High School Students. The winner in each district has the privilege of having their art work on display in the Nation’s Capitol and receives two round trip plane tickets to Washington D.C. to participate in recognition ceremonies there. News From Other Sources...Comics in Medicine & Teaching: Rethinking Comics as a Therapeutic and Educational Tool University of Nebraska - Kearney Colloquium, Kearney, Nebraska Call for Papers, Posters, or Artwork Although seen primarily as a form of entertainment for children and young adults, the potential of comic books as an educational tool was recognized very early on. If you are involved in research or practice exploring the educational and therapeutic uses of the comic book, please consider submitting a proposal to share your work at a dynamic, interactive colloquium dedicated to rethinking the role of comics. We welcome abstracts describing creative work that has explored the interface of comic books/graphic novels in the fields of medicine or education. The creative work could be presented as a paper or poster presentation or as an actual work of art. February 23rd early submission deadline. More Information.... McCook Community College High School Art Exhibition and Paint-In March 30th – April 10th, 2015 All student works to be entered in the exhibition must be delivered to MCC Wrightstone Fine Arts Building during the designated times of March 16th through March 27th. The Paint-In is Friday, April 10th, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. The agenda for the Paint-In day is as follows: April 10th, 2015 9:00 a.m. Paint-In theme announced, question and answer sessions, rules and prizes discussed. 9:30 a.m. Paint-In begins. 12:00 p.m. Paint-In work completed. 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. LUNCH, on your own, on or off campus. 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Award Ceremony in gym. 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. Pick up student works from the Wrightstone Gallery. Wizard's Castle Publishing in Lincoln sponsors an annual competition for Nebraska Middle School students interested in an opportunity to illustrate a book. This year's story to be illustrated, Pony Express, was written by a Lincoln 6th grader. To enter, students must complete two illustrations of the Pony Express text provided by Wizard's Castle Publishing. The winner will create the remaining illustrations of the book and receive a professional contract of $300. Entries are due March 2, 2015.
