Landscape Painting: Views of the Missouri River Valley
Saturdays: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7; 10 am-12:30 pm
*April 9 session: students are encouraged to carpool or caravan from Joslyn to the Hitchcock Nature Center.
Joslyn Members: $120; General Public: $130
Get a taste of the life of the artist-explorer as you combine experiences creating field studies with compositional refinement and careful oil paining practice in the studio. Like Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt, students will travel into nature to create field studies to be used as references for oil paintings created in Joslyn’s studios. Students will caravan to the Hitchcock Nature Center near Crescent, IA, to record views of the Missouri River Valley through photographs and pastel drawings. Back at Joslyn’s studios we’ll use our studies to create finished landscape paintings.
