FEATURED ARTIST WORKSHOP FOR FALL CONFERENCE
Karen Kunc : Printmaking/Bookmaking
In this experimental hands-on workshop we will generate pages of printed images, front and back, with the monoprint process. The prints will be turned into a wrapped paper covered book with visible spine stitching details. Through the “Pressure Printing” process, unexpected juxtapositions of symbols will be printed from stencils, cutout relief forms, and textured materials impressed by rollers and the hand “Pin Press” with Akua water-base inks onto quality art papers. There will be generative collaboration in printing from the combinations of sources, materials and color layering. Techniques will be demonstrated and discussed, with ongoing problem solving and suggestions by faculty mentor. This process can spark minds through the imaginative pursuit of problems and solutions and results in a final book form.

Angie Fischer, Curriculum Facilitator
