Restructuring NATA - What are your visions?
Teaching has changed. Professional responsibilities have changed. Students have changed. Accountability has changed. School/district structure has changed. Shoot, even lunch and recess has changed. Our responsibilities and needs are changing faster than we can keep up. The new NATA Board Structure is in a piloting phase right now. We are trying to determine where our focus should lie and what member's needs will be in the next 1-5 years and beyond. Please take 2 minutes to complete a brief survey that includes your opinion of which services are most important to you as NATA plans for support of art educators across the state of Nebraska. Please ask yourself what you need in order "to advocate for and advance art education in Nebraska to fulfill human potential and promote global understanding".

Please take this Nebraska Department of Education Survey

Dear Colleagues in Education,
A significant milestone to advance fine arts education throughout our state occurred in 2014 when Nebraska adopted statewide K-12 Fine Arts Standards (FAS).
Three organizations, Nebraska Educational Television (NET), the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), and the Nebraska Arts Council (NAC) are spearheading an initiative to develop resources and support implementation of Nebraska’s FAS. These organizations work collaboratively with many additional groups throughout Nebraska that have begun work involving the new standards. As part of this initiative, the three partner organizations plan to seek funding through the National Endowment for the Arts, and are requesting assistance from additional groups in completing a very brief survey by May 15th.

“Eco-Printing into Bookmaking”
Art at Cedar Point (ARTP 183) summer2015 is a creative and immersive two- week field school art
experience. We will learn printing processes on site and experiment with “eco” techniques using
natural materials, such as ink, rust, stains, weathering actions, stencils, over printed layers, that all  reference nature for an interpretation of resources and specimens. Through these printing  processes a variety of information pages will be made that are the content of handmade books,  that serve to record actions and phenomenon, a history of encounters, to develop a “sense of  place”.
Emphasis is on visual observation and a collaborative studio atmosphere that contributes to awareness on the diversity of the natural world, environmental issues, on perception on multiple  levels. Our bookmaking structures will set page order, record time and information for finished  objects. This course allows for imaginative minds to pursue questions and solutions through  observation, invention, conversation, personal growth, sharing, and the visual development of  ideas. Our studio experiences will parallel and complement the work of the scientists at CPBS. This creative field school course is designed to create a comfortable yet challenging atmosphere for the exploration of art media and expression with contemporary meaning and applications.

Crayola Seeks Innovative Teaching and Learning Manager
Hello fellow art advocates.  You may or may not have heard that I will be retiring on July 7th after 24 years with Crayola.  It has been a joy to represent such an amazing brand and to work with you in the endeavor of educating children through the arts. The replacement position has been posted on crayola.com and I invite you to share this opportunity with educators who would be interested in applying.
Here is the link to the website:
http://www.crayola.com/about-us/colorful-careers.aspx
Please ask candidates to search within the Executive area for the Innovative Teaching and Learning Manager position. Please urge them to apply and submit their resumes as quickly as possible, so they don't miss out on this opportunity.
You can also try this link, which goes directly to the listing:

Although the website states the position location as Easton, PA, it is actually a field position, based out of a home office located in the central region.  Candidates could currently live in, or relocate to any city in the mid-west or central portion of the United States which has easy access to an airport.
I hope to be able to speak with you all individually before retiring, but if that is not possible, I want to thank you for your many years of support and the joy and laughter we have shared.
