NAEA invites diverse proposals from members that inform and inspire art educators to challenge assumptions and—through the cross pollination of ideas—to see their critical work through the prism of change. Each week will focus on a different exhibit at the museum giving you the opportunity to draw from various fossils, skeletons, crystals, insects and more. No matter if you are new to drawing or have been doing it for years, this class will be an enriching opportunity to draw from a variety of truly fascinating still life. This class will take place at the University of Nebraska State Museum – Morrill Hall Located at 14th and Vine Streets - UNL City Campus, Lincoln, Nebraska. This adult sketch class that will take place Thursdays from 5:30-8:00pm from June 9 – July 14. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Michelle Grabner, one of twelve artists invited to participate in It Was Never Linear: Recent Painting, will appear in conversation with Aaron Holz, co-curator of the exhibition and associate professor of painting and drawing at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, on Friday, May 27, at 5 p.m.
Grabner’s varied interests beyond her studio practice—in writing, curating, and teaching—led the Whitney Museum of American Art to name her co-curator of its 2014 biennial with Anthony Elms and Stuart Comer. Her writing has been published in Artforum, Modern Painters, Frieze, Art Press, and Art-Agenda, among others. Tickets are available online at go.unl.edu/sheldon-may-27.
