Present at NAEA National Convention! March 2–4, 2017, New York, NY
2017 NAEA National Convention Theme: The Challenge of Change. NAEA invites diverse proposals from members that inform and inspire art educators to challenge assumptions and—through the cross pollination of ideas—to see their critical work through the prism of change. Presentation topics should fall under one of the five goals within the Strategic Vision for advancing the NAEA mission. Proposal deadline: Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

Professional Learning Through Research Call for Nominations: Chair and Members 
Professional Learning Through Research (PLR) is a working group of the NAEA Research Commission. The PLR provides opportunities for members' professional growth in conducting, using and sharing research that improves teaching and learning in the visual arts. The call for nominations is now open for multiple positions. Deadline for nominations is June 13, 2016.

DRAWING FROM NATURAL HISTORY
Explore Nebraska natural history through drawing! Each week will focus on a different exhibit at the
museum giving you the opportunity to draw from various fossils, skeletons, crystals, insects and more. No matter if you are new to drawing or have been doing it for years, this class will be an enriching opportunity to draw from a variety of truly fascinating still life. This class will take place at the University of Nebraska State Museum – Morrill Hall Located at 14th and Vine Streets - UNL City Campus, Lincoln, Nebraska. This adult sketch class that will take place Thursdays from 5:30-8:00pm from June 9 – July 14.  Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.  The LUX does have scholarships available; adults interested in the class can contact the LUX for specific information on how to apply. To learn more about the class go to: http://luxcenter.org/register-for-drawing-from-natural-history/

Support the Arts Across Nebraska May 25th
This month offers opportunities to support the Nebraskans for the Arts and its initiatives to advocate for the arts and arts education across the state. Your donation on May 25th will support our programs to celebrate arts education - the NebraskaARTS Award and monthly Student Spotlight. There are also several opportunities for you to support our activities throughout the year, with 5% of your purchases automatically donated to us - without costing you an extra dime!

We are a statewide organization; with an office location in Omaha, NFTA participates in the community giving initiative Omaha Gives! This online giving holiday takes place Wednesday, May 25th, from midnight to midnight. With bonus dollars, hourly drawings and participation prizes, the more donors we get to give to us, the more we can leverage your support for additional funding.

Artist Michelle Grabner will speak at Sheldon on May 27
Michelle Grabner, one of twelve artists invited to participate in It Was Never Linear: Recent Painting, will appear in conversation with Aaron Holz, co-curator of the exhibition and associate professor of painting and drawing at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, on Friday, May 27, at 5 p.m.
Grabner’s varied interests beyond her studio practice—in writing, curating, and teaching—led the Whitney Museum of American Art to name her co-curator of its 2014 biennial with Anthony Elms and Stuart Comer. Her writing has been published in Artforum, Modern Painters, Frieze, Art Press, and Art-Agenda, among others.
