Teaching has changed. Professional responsibilities have changed. Students have changed. Accountability has changed. School/district structure has changed. Shoot, even lunch and recess has changed. Our responsibilities and needs are changing faster than we can keep up. The new NATA Board Structure is in a piloting phase right now. We are trying to determine where our focus should lie and what member's needs will be in the next 1-5 years and beyond. Please take 2 minutes to complete a brief survey that includes your opinion of which services are most important to you as NATA plans for support of art educators across the state of Nebraska. Please ask yourself what you need in order "to advocate for and advance art education in Nebraska to fulfill human potential and promote global understanding" This feedback will be used during the summer 2015 Board meeting to make plans for our future.

News From Other Sources...Please take this Nebraska Department of Education Survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NDEFineArts Dear Colleagues in Education, A significant milestone to advance fine arts education throughout our state occurred in 2014 when Nebraska adopted statewide K-12 Fine Arts Standards (FAS). Three organizations, Nebraska Educational Television (NET), the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), and the Nebraska Arts Council (NAC) are spearheading an initiative to develop resources and support implementation of Nebraska’s FAS. These organizations work collaboratively with many additional groups throughout Nebraska that have begun work involving the new standards. As part of this initiative, the three partner organizations plan to seek funding through the National Endowment for the Arts, and are requesting assistance from additional groups in completing a very brief survey by May 15th. Art at Cedar Point (ARTP 183), 3 credits (ACE 7) “Eco-Printing into Bookmaking” June 8–19, 2015 (arrive on June 7, depart on June 20) UNL Cedar Point Biological Station, Ogallala, Nebraska
Art at Cedar Point (ARTP 183) summer2015 is a creative and immersive two- week field school art experience. We will learn printing processes on site and experiment with “eco” techniques using natural materials, such as ink, rust, stains, weathering actions, stencils, over printed layers, that all reference nature for an interpretation of resources and specimens. Through these printing processes a variety of information pages will be made that are the content of handmade books, that serve to record actions and phenomenon, a history of encounters, to develop a “sense of place”. Emphasis is on visual observation and a collaborative studio atmosphere that contributes to awareness on the diversity of the natural world, environmental issues, on perception on multiple levels. Our bookmaking structures will set page order, record time and information for finished objects. This course allows for imaginative minds to pursue questions and solutions through observation, invention, conversation, personal growth, sharing, and the visual development of ideas. Our studio experiences will parallel and complement the work of the scientists at CPBS. This creative field school course is designed to create a comfortable yet challenging atmosphere for the exploration of art media and expression with contemporary meaning and applications.
