That's why we're connecting you to knowledge, colleagues, best practices, and vast networks through the NAEA Community." - See more... Nebraska's membership has dropped into the 180's. We have sustained around 200 members for a year now and want to keep that number growing. With potential of over 400 members, please keep your membership status current and invite another teacher to join NATA/NAEA. Think about the people you have met and networked with because of this professional association. Discuss the valuable connections you make with other colleagues across the state and nation. We need a volunteer to assist with member contacts for about 30 minutes a month to call, email, or send a postcard to about 10 members that have allowed their membership to lapse or welcome those joining for the first time. NAEA provides you with names and contact information monthly. If you are interested in serving Nebraska Art Teachers in this capacity please contact Lynette and Allison, NATA Co-Presidents. You will work closely with the Membership Services Director, Josie Langbehn. ![]() Nebraskans for the Arts Arts Advocacy Breakfast Nebraska State Capitol, Thursday, February 5. If you are interested in attending to represent NATA, please contact Lynette and Allison today! NATA will pay the $10 registration fee for up to two members. "This is a great opportunity to tell your state senator how important the Nebraska Arts Council grant you received was to you, your organization or your school. Nebraskans for the Arts will be offering a “How to Speak to Your Senator” session at 8:15 in case you’re shy or you’ve never done something like this before. Nebraska is a big state, and it’s a work day, so if you live two hours drive or longer from the State Capitol, and are bringing a group or a friend (or better yet, students – it’s educational!) we’ll buy you a tank of gas. $25 goes a long way these days unless you’re driving a Hummer. Just locate a Nebraska Arts Council staff member at the event, and we’ll give you a form to fill out. Here’s where you go to register: https://nebraskansfortheartsorg.presencehost.net/advocacy/advocacy_events.html . When you’re done, email your state senator and let them know you’re coming: http://nebraskalegislature.gov/senators/senator_list.php Can’t make it? Email your senator and tell them you’re sorry you will not be at the Arts Advocacy Breakfast on February 5, but thank them for supporting your grant. If your senator is new, congratulate them and tell them why receiving a grant is important to you. You can copy me or Nebraskans for the Arts Executive Director Doug Zyblut in case we have a conversation with your senator, we can reference you. As always, thanks for everything you do and best wishes for 2015. I look forward to seeing you on the 5th." THE MIDWEST ARTIST STUDIOS PROJECT : FRANK JUAREZ This project aims to connect Contemporary Art with Art Education in the Midwest. My team traveled to MN, IA, MO, and WI to visit the studios of 9 artists to document them, their work, their studio via photographs, video, and interview. This would result in a catalog spotlighting each featured artists as well as designing artist-inspired lesson plans after the works of each artist. In addition, creating videos from our visit as well as creating a platform for educators to have access to these artists via Skype for student critiques. Now, we are in the process of making these catalogs and curriculum workbook available for purchase as of January 15, 2015. As a past -president of the Wisconsin Art Education Association I always try to introduce our members to new ideas, resources, opportunities, and innovative projects. If you time allows please take a look at our site, the video, and check out our shop area to see if this is something that may be of interest.
