THANK YOU committee members for all of your efforts preparing for this conference:  Carolyn Albracht, Conference Chair, Jody Boyer, Melissa Cleaver,  Barrett Epp, Lynette Fast, Sharon Kennedy, Mollie Magnuson, Cindy McClelland, Kelsey Pralle, Jocelyn Reiss, Jennifer Bockerman, and Allison Fees Varah.
_NATA’s Fall Conference 2014 is scheduled for the last weekend in September, to be held in Aurora at the Leadership Center. This retreat-style conference, featuring workshops with professional artists and professional development with curriculum facilitators, will be both relaxing and rejuvenating. The conference theme will focus around nature, as attendees will be able to enjoy the scenic grounds of the Leadership Center and immerse themselves in two days of creation and recreation. Paddle boats, a hiking trail, an indoor swimming pool and basketball court are all available for leisure time use. The town of Aurora offers a number of amenities and attractions, such as the Plainsman Museum (where the educators art show will be displayed) and the Edgerton Explorit Center (where the Sheldon Statewide exhibit will be displayed). Also, ten miles north of Aurora, is the artist residency, Art Farm, where all are invited to take self-guided tours of past residents’ art projects and sculptures. On Saturday evening, an open studio and gallery tour is being planned, and will include opportunities for NATA members to feature their own and/or students’ artworks for sale.

Introducing the newly approved Nebraska Fine Arts Standards and writing curriculum for classroom alignment will be the focus during the conference.  A special emphasis will be placed upon integrating naturalist education for student engagement.  A vibrant, innovative community of more than 190 Nebraska art
education professionals representing art specialists and teachers of the visual arts, school district
administrators, university professors and scholars, researchers, and museum educators will connect with
the common goal of advancing art education for the benefit of students in schools throughout the state.
Opportunities include eight studio sessions that showcase alignment of the standards and artistic behavior,
provide interactive learning through hands on workshops, local arts studio tours, and the Sheldon Art
Museum Statewide Exhibit.  The content of this experience is 100% education related and can be applied
immediately to teaching and learning in your school.

Thank you to our conference supporters!
