Preparation of selected entries for Scholastic Art Awards of Nebraska Exhibit:

Work should be delivered no later than February 16 at 5:00 P.M.

For 2d work:
Be sure you are following the rules for hanging and matting: Black or white mats only. Use a piece of oak tag or mat board behind all works. This provides protection and a cleaner presentation.

Identify on the back of the work which direction it should hang with an arrow and the word “TOP”. The direction of the entry form is not always the best indicator of the direction of the work.

Do not send works that are framed or oversized. Please use foam core behind the mat if it is not flush with the artwork. Work tends to fall off the walls and mats and/or artwork can get damaged.

Since we need to hang the works with staples or pins, you may cut a little larger mat so the edges can be trimmed when it is returned.

Please do not mat canvas board or batiks that are on thick boards.

Please spray or cover with acetate delicate drawings of charcoal, pastel chalk, conte etc. This will protect the art and the art of others.

Please pack artworks along with the corresponding submission forms in the same mailing package. If you have more than one package, please label them 1 of 2, 2 of 2 etc.

For 3d work:
Identify the work using the entry form. The entry form can be tied or inserted in the work. Please pack artworks along with the corresponding submission forms in the same mailing package. If you have more than one package, please label them 1 of 2, 2 of 2 etc. If more than 30 pounds in weight please call Lynn at 557-2406 to make delivery arrangements.

TAKE CARE IN PACKING WORK:

Shipping: Artwork must fit in a box with appropriate packing materials, including styrofoam, peanuts, bubble wrap and/or double boxing, whose dimensions do not exceed 130 inches in length and girth combined (length + width + depth + depth). A good rule to estimate the packing size of artwork is to add six inches to length, width and depth before using the formula above. If more than 30 pounds in weight please call Lynn at 557-2406 to make delivery arrangements.

2D works should not exceed 48 inches in any direction and, in general, the largest 2D work that can be accommodated is 36 inches by 48 inches.

Delivery of Artwork:
Identification on artwork should include the official name of your school, as well as the city. Put the teacher’s name(s) on the packing box. Please number your boxes or packages accordingly (example: 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, etc.)

Deliver to OPS after February 7. All work should be to TAC by February 16. The mailroom docks are located on the south side of the building on Burt Street. Your school is responsible for delivery costs.

Send work in sturdy, reusable containers. We will do our best to use the same packages to return the work to your school. If you are mailing work, do not go over the post office official size limitations. Omaha Post offices WILL NOT allow us to return over-sized packages.

Exhibition:
The show will be hung on Saturday, February 18. We will begin at 9:00 A.M.
The exhibition dates are February 22–March 14.

 Liability
There is no insurance coverage while the artwork is in our possession or in transit. We will take all possible care in protecting the work.

Return of artwork
The exhibit will on display until March 14. Call Lynn at 557-2406 or email her at lynn.christensen@ops.org to arrange a time after this date to pick up your work. Please give us time to take down and repack your work before assuming it is ready to take. On rare occasions, a wrong box gets picked up, or work gets mixed in shipment. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BOXES CAREFULLY AND NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE MISSING WORKS OR IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE ELSE’S WORK. We do our best to track down these problems.

WORK NOT PICKED UP BY APRIL 13 WILL BE RETURNED TO YOUR SCHOOL. (We do not mail work to schools within the Metro Omaha area).
